Lucy by Kris Lou and Erik Robert

A couple of weeks ago, we had invited our friends Kris Lou and Erik Robert down to Richmond to spend a week with us and update some of our talent’s books. Thankfully, Kris was able to slip down here and shot some AMAZING images that we can’t wait to share. This girl can do it all! We loved her sweet, laid-back personality and the way she managed to draw this edgy coolness from each of our talent. While you are waiting for the shots from the Mid-Atlantic office, feast your eyes on the latest test that Lucy (from our Midwest office) shot with Kris and Erik. There is just something about Lucy – you can’t take your eyes off of her. And, what a body on this girl! It serves a nice reminder that bathing suit season is right around the corner… if it could ever stop snowing.

IMPACT 2014 – VCU Fashion Preview

This week Julia and I were so pleased to be invited to the VCU Fashion Department’s 3rd annual fashion show preview.  The event was held at the gorgeous Scott House at VCU and we were greeted by a dozen or so excited VCU Fashion students as well as Interim Chair, Donna Reamy, Kim Guthrie, Asst. Chair and our friend Deidra Arrington, Professor of Fashion Merchandising.

The theme of the show this year is IMPACT, which allows the students to define what kind of impact their designs will have on the audience and what kind of impact they, themselves, will have on their community.

We saw some pretty amazing pieces from 5 senior design students. First was Brittany Golding with her urban sportswear. She used tribal prints, quilted leather and made a very cool convertible skirt that goes from office to party in seconds.  Tyler O’Neal showed us his futuristic day looks.  One made of wool suiting  in a sunshine yellow with a diamond quilt pattern, the other including gorgeous hammered satin trouser shorts.   Next was Aleshia Greene, whose urban casual dresswear leaned to the masculine side with broad shoulders and leather details, but still kept it feminine with body hugging spandex all around.  Noela Tian presented two gorgeous looks inspired by Japanese design and calligraphy. Her flowing sleeves and pants included magnet fasteners that allowed sleeves to convert to scarves in a flash. Lastly was Margaret Arlow who was the only designer to show menswear.  She showed her  custom jeans with amazing pocket details and her own leather stamped label, and a fantastic leather jacket with handmade clasps with a soft cotton henley as a base.  Her construction and tailoring were so high quality, that her looks were more reminiscent of Barney’s men’s department than a student fashion show.

Seniors Jessica Decker, Director of the show and Amber Nichols , Asst. Director are planning an amazing show, held again at the VMFA on May 4th at 8PM. Tickets go on sale April 1st and don’t wait, this show will sell out fast!  You can purchase tickets online at http://www.showclix.com/event/impact14

Take a peek below to see  some shots from the preview! Congratulations to all the VCU students involved in putting together what promises to be a great night.

I won’t lie… I’m spazzing out over this new editorial of our girl Kathleen just out in Vogue Italia.

Miami born photographer Vicki Forshee captures Kathleen’s ethereal beauty perfectly in this story on spring coats.  Wonderfully styled by Kusum Lynn, we are loving the mix of the “trashy” backdrop with the prim look of the outfits… Well done Ladies!

Update on Kirsten H

Our beautiful Kirsten has spent the past few months in warm, sunny LA (can you tell we’re jealous?) and she just got back a fabulous new test with our friend Easton Schirra. She is getting ready to head out to Chicago to work with Modelogic Midwest for a bit – we love her! Kirsten is constantly working on her body, updating her book, and she just has a great attitude. This girl gets it!

Kathleen M for Urban Outfitters

Our beautiful Kathleen M is spending a few months in Sydney soaking up the sun, building her portfolio, and booking work. Just before she left she had the pleasure of shooting the latest lookbook for Urban Outfitters! This gives us just the taste of summer that we’ve been longing for out here on the east coast… who else is tired of below freezing temps? We’re trying not to be TOO jealous of Kathleen’s southern hemisphere stay, and are so excited to see what happens next for her.

Check out the full feature here.

Gabe Witmer by Matt Johnson

Our friend and model Gabe Witmer just shared these gorgeous shots with us today.  I love black and white stories (takes me back to my tri-x days in college) and this one is really lovely. Gabe is a busy man these days, traveling to bookings in and out of the US, you may recognize him from his many catalog clients   Thanks for sharing Gabe!

Booker becomes a Bride!

Julia here! It’s a little weird to write a blog post in the first person, but here I am! Two months ago, as I am sure many of the talent and clients that I email on a daily basis noticed: my name changed. All of my dreams came true and I became Mrs. Rabin! Woo!

We were very blessed to have so many supportive people involved in the planning and execution of our day… I could go on and on about how great everyone was to work with, but I think I will keep it short and sweet and let the pictures speak for themselves. We wanted our day to be about us: from the food (pizza, hot wings, a donut tower instead of a cake, candy, Redbull and craft beer) to the ceremony (we got married in James Madison’s greenhouse with all of the people we care about surrounding us – 360 degrees of love!) to the reception (good food and an insane dance party).

The art director of Virginia Living Magazine, who is one of my favorite clients to work with because of her kindness and class, was kind enough to pick up our wedding and it is featured in the latest issue (picture attached!) so go out and grab a copy!

If anyone is getting married in the near future, I would highly recommend all of the vendors listed below. All were so easy to work with, so kind, and made our day insanely special.

Melanie B for The Georgetowner

This month’s issue of The Georgetowner features our beautiful Melanie B. We love the dark sophistication of this editorial; the styling and makeup really bring a moody, wintery feel to the spread. Photos by the always-amazing Oriana Layendecker, styling by Aaron Bernstein, and makeup by Marie Jilson.
